Provides clerical support to the nursing staff of the Behavioral Health department. This position is responsible to answer the telephone and assemble, breakdown, and route charts to the Medical Records Department. The Unit Secretary transcribes physician orders, admits and discharges patients in the computer system and updates the patient status in the computer system. Responsible for proper routing of county forms and scheduling probable cause hearings and writs as required by law. Consistently, accurately and timely, monitors and routes legal forms to proper authorities 100% of the time. Maintains patient charts and medical records per unit/hospital policies. Monitors all persons entering the unit 100% of the time. Monitors unit phone 100% of the time. This position is responsible for completing orders for services through PBAR. The Unit Clerk orders and maintain supplies, files records, assists in audits of charges, assemble charges and routes to proper departments. This position assists in posting of hours for productivity reports, provides copying and typing services, and compiles and routes statistics.

Minimum Experience: 6 months hospital secretary experience, preferably in Psych. Required Certification/Registration: BCLS, MAB desirable but will train within 60 days. Other: Knowledge of laws pertaining to probable cause.
