Health Information Clerk, Per Diem temporary position

Retrieves patient discharge charts from patient care areas. Tracks inpatient/outpatient chart received & identifies any chart not obtained. Assures that patient identifying information is on the chart. Integrates loose reports to appropriate location for filing. Accurately inputs record information as required into SoftMed. Assist customers at window as needed. Good understanding of release of information. Knowledge of ADT reports. Performs sorting and filing of ED/OPD, CMS records, as needed. Good understanding of TDO & ability to file loose filing efficiently and timely, as needed. Assist with OSHPD corrections as needed. Must be computer literate. Ability to assist physicians as needed. Ability to follow-up/chart and locate transcription as needed. Performs assignments and other duties as assigned by the HIM Manager/Director. Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA.

Minimum Education:  HS Grad or equivalent preferred. Minimum Experience:  Two years in HIM Dept of an acute hospital preferred. Shift/days/hours will vary. This is a temporary position and assignment will end on or before September 2010.
