Quick assessment and prioritization of calls. Precise & correct input of data regarding client/patients, referral sources & payer sources for later retrieval & the formulation of statistical reports. Demonstrates appropriate focus on the importance of detail as related to documentation & data entry of all admission information & codes required for follow up by finance & management. Able to concentrate on the task at hand while others in the office are also answering phones, talking or performing other activities. Performs crisis intervention, assessment & counseling.

Files, faxes & copies when necessary. Assists with insurance verification & generation of pre-authorization for admission. Records notice of impending admissions & places in notebook for reference when patient presents for admission. Ensures shift to shift communication.  Attends staff meetings. Completes all appropriate preadmission tasks. Crisis intervention, assessment & counseling via telephone with appropriate referral for patient admission or outpatient follow up via private therapist of community agencies. Dispatch Crisis Team Clinicians for psychosocial assessment as needed. Assist with the maintenance of the Referral Book & Communications Book for referencing by other Access Services Staff. Demonstrates an awareness of Managed Care Contract Agreements as well as protocol regarding established MCO protocols (I.e. Medical/MCC/BMH).

Promptly reports any malfunctioning of equipment to supervisor & documents all pertinent information. Observes Medical Staff Bylaws of West Med by recognition of physicians & temporary suspensions due to delinquent charting & refers accordingly. Completes Child/Elderly/Domestic Violence Abuse Report upon knowledge of such information or refers appropriately. Minimum Education: High School education preferred. Minimum Experience: 1 year of inpatient psychiatric, either working on a psychiatric unit and/or handling intake calls for inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Required License/Certifications Other: Insurance verification and Case Mgmt experience desirable.
