I. POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse, as a professional practitioner, assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. According to the established standards of nursing practice and standards of care, he/she demonstrates an ability to make clinical judgements in an efficient and effective manner, without supervision. He/she demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care and consistently performs according to the standards of the profession. He/She assumes ultimate responsibility and accountability in managing his/her patient care and in assisting others in the management of patient care. The Registered Nurse reports to the Charge Nurse and Director of his/her unit. He/she may handle human blood and other potentially infectious and/or hazardous materials, which may result in possible exposure to blood borne pathogens and/or harmful elements. This position has the responsibility for the assessment, treatment and care of the patient in the following age group: adolescent, adult and geriatric. II. QUALIFICATIONS: A. Current California Registered Nurse License. B. Minimum of one (1) year experience in an acute care facility and/or caring for chemical dependency population preferred. C. BCLS required (within 30 days of employment) D. Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training required (within 90 days of employment) E. Has full command (verbal and written) of the English language. Possesses the physical abilities, including heavy lifting, and perceptive acuity, e.g., visual, hearing, to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions. |
